The Director-General of the Cardiac Surgery University Hospital in Damascus revealed that approval had been obtained from the concerned authorities, higher education, and scientific research, for the hospital to receive patients, sick cases, heart injuries, and perform catheter operations again.
In an exclusive interview with Al-Watan, the director-general of the hospital Hossam Khader revealed the completion of the sterilization of rooms and departments and the maintenance of the devices. He also revealed the complete sterilization and restoration of the operations rooms and equipment. This will allow surgical operations to take place starting next week after the completion of all the necessary procedures and the sterilization of the intensive care unit and all the devices.

Khader said that the hospital has begun performing catheters for several patients, and they will be receiving many patients and cases starting next week. This coincides with the announcement of the hospital’s return to normal working conditions.

Khader added: “The work resumed in the clinics, the laboratory, echocardiography, catheterization, and radiology.” He stressed a qualitative shift in the hospital’s work, with a complete change in the procedures relating to floors, air conditioning, and oxygen. This follows a decrease in the number of COVID19 cases, compared to the previous period.
He continued: “There is an interest in providing services at nominal costs compared to the outside, noting that the hospital has two cardiac catheterization devices.” He confirmed that there are efforts to obtain a cardiac catheterization tube, in the upcoming period, in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education. It is noteworthy to state that this case applies to al-Mouwasat and al-Assad University Hospitals.
The Director-General of the Cardiac Surgery University Hospital in Damascus indicated that there is stability in drug provision, pointing out that part of the medicines is secured through the Ministry of Health, and another part is secured through organizations, or through direct purchase according to the officially approved procedure.
