Regime Forces Retake Ground From Rebels in Aleppo

Syrian regime forces backed by allied militias recaptured territory from rebel forces in Aleppo city on Tuesday, activists said.

The regime militants took the districts of Talat al-Huweiz, Al-Ameriya and Mahrouqat in the Ramouseh industrial area.

Earlier, rebels made advances in the Ramouseh district west of Aleppo city after a massive tunnel bomb attack left dozens of regime fighters killed and wounded, local activists said Tuesday.

Meanwhile, clashes are still underway on different battlefronts in the west and south of the city.

Rebels launched a major offensive three days ago to break the siege of opposition-held eastern Aleppo where about 250,000 people are currently trapped by the suffocating blockade.

Once Syria's economic powerhouse, Aleppo city has been roughly divided between government control in the west and rebel control in the east since mid-2012.
