Clashes between the Kurdish Asayish forces on the one hand and regime forces and allied militias on the other resulted in the burning of crop yields in the city of Hassakeh Wednesday, May 18.
Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Hassakeh said the fire erupted in farmlands between the Al-Aziziyeh district and Ghoeeran in the city, as a result of clashes which were still continuing sporadically at the time of writing.
The correspondent said that the harvests which were burned were distributed in the land between the two districts, which are mostly wheat fields, adding that it was difficult to reach these areas to extinguish the fires, while the harvest season in the city started days ago.
Two civilians were killed by stray bullets during the clashes, according to the correspondent, who confirmed that the victims were transported to the national hospital in the Al-Aziziyeh district, while the number of civilians wounded by the bullets rose to four people, including children, according to hospital sources.
Clashes raged since this morning inside the city in different areas, mainly near Duwar “Sinalco” and in the central market and the Nashwa district.
The regime has been attempting for two days to seize the area under Asayish control, according to what activists in the city told Enab Baladi. The map of control has not changed yet, although the Syrian regime has capture the security square in Hassakeh and the military “Fawj Kawkab,” while Kurdish units have spread in the remaining areas in the city.
