HTS Deploys Forces on Border in Coordination With Turkey

On Tuesday, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra front), in coordination with Turkish forces, deployed its forces on the Turkish border with Syria in the northwestern countryside of Idleb.

A military source of the HTS told North Press that “Over the past few days, 100 HTS militants were assigned to 16 border observation posts starting from Zurzur all the way to Harem in the northwest of Idleb.”

The source added, “This deployment is the first phase to be followed by other phases reaching down to the town of Atma in the north of Idleb to prevent any attempted entry into Turkish territories from Idleb.”

“This move by the HTS came in coordination with the Turkish forces and border guards through communications and meetings in the last few days,” the source noted.
