Syrian foreign investments accounted for 205 million Turkish lira in 2015, according to prime ministry's statement

Syrian businesses in Turkey occupied the first place among foreign investors in the country for 2015, reaching about 22.3 percent of all foreign investment in the country.

A statement issued by Turkey’s Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said that “with the continuation of the war in Syria over five years, the number of Syrian refugees in Turkey has reached more than 2.4 million. As they try to forget the effects of the war on one hand, they have also become an important factor in the Turkish economy.”

The statement, published in excerpts by Turk Press website on Wednesday, added: “In the 11 months since last year, total foreign investments in the country have reached 918 million Turkish lira (about 300 million US dollars). Syrian investments accounted for 205 million Turkish lira.”

Syrian entrepreneurs set up 1,429 companies during this period, putting them in first place, far head of German companies, coming in second place with 310 companies.
