Syrian ‘Popular Forces’ En Route to Afrin to Ward off Turkish Campaign

Official media announces mobilization of pro-regime paramilitaries in support of Kurdish-led YPG fighters

Syrian "Popular Forces" are expected to arrive soon in the northern Afrin region in support of locals facing the aggression launched by the Turkish regime, SANA’s reporter in Aleppo said on Monday.

The reporter said that the arrival of Popular Forces will strengthen the resilience of locals and their resistance against the Turkish aggression, which targets infrastructure, property, and economic and services establishments.

Turkey has been waging a barbaric assault on Afrin for almost a month with various kinds of weapons, including internationally banned chlorine gas, which has so far killed and injured hundreds of civilians and destroyed infrastructure and historical landmarks.
