The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that Russia supported the resolution No. 2165 that was unanimously approved by the U.N. Security Council on Monday on the humanitarian situation in Syria.
“Through the coordination process, we took into consideration our priorities and concerns regarding its text,” the Ministry said, underlining the necessity of stressing Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the Ministry said that main issues were documented in the resolution, considering that “transferring the humanitarian aid to Syria will be done according to the main principles of the U.N. with regard to providing urgent humanitarian aid.”
To achieve this goal, a U.N. observer mission will be spread in Syria’s neighboring countries including Jordan, Iraq and Turkey, with the main task being the guarantee of effective supervision on the humanitarian shipments sent to Syria, the Ministry added.
It pointed out that the resolution also expressed deep concern over mounting terrorist activities in Syria, confirming the importance of the national reconciliations, and hailing the role of the Syrian Government in facilitating the arrival of the humanitarian aid.
In a statement, the Ministry stressed that the stability in Syria can be achieved only in the diplomatic frameworks, calling for activating the efforts for resuming the Syrian-Syrian dialogue.
