Syrian opposition factions have congratulated Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) on its victory in Sunday’s parliamentary elections.
"The victory of the Justice and Development Party will reflect positively on the stability in the Middle East," several factions declared in a joint statement.
"Turkey has played a role in embracing and supporting the Syrian revolution and stood with it in its plight, bearing much internal and external pressures to retreat from its policy," the statement read.
The joint statement was issued by: Sultan Murad, al-Jabha ash-Shamiyah, Unit 101, the Army of Jihadists, Sahwas Units, al-Wasat Brigade, Jaish an-Nasr, Suqur al-Jabal, Fastaqem Kama Umert Brigades, Fursan al-Haq and Battalion 13.
In separate statements, a number of other factions also congratulated the success of the AKP, voicing hope that Turkey would retain its position achieving stability in the region.
