Education Ministry, UNESCO Push for Deepening of Joint Programs

Education Minister Hazwan al-Waz on Wednesday met with head of UNESCO’s Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab States Hamad Bin Saif Al Hammami to discuss boosting cooperation between the two educational bodies.

Talks during the meeting also dealt with vital strategies and programs, including the training of teachers and providing the needs for early childhood development.

Minister Waz expressed his country’s keenness on boosting the standing cooperation between UNESCO and Syria’s national institutions in the fields of education, science, culture, and communications.

He also briefed Hammami on what the educational sector has suffered at the hands of terrorists, indicating that the Ministry has taken a number of measures to ensure that schools are able to continue their work.

For his part, the UN representative expressed support for the joint programs and projects which are carried out in cooperation with the Ministry.
