President Bashar Assad on Wednesday received U.N.special envoy Lakhdar Brahimi and his accompanying delegation.
The President reiterated that the success of any political solution is dependent on stopping support for the armed terrorist groups and exerting pressure on their sponsor states that are facilitating the entry of terrorists and mercenaries into Syria, providing them with money, arms and logistical support.
Assad stressed that halting that support to the armed terrorist groups is the most important step to create favorable conditions for dialogue and set up clear mechanisms to achieve the desired goals.
Assad also conformed that the Syrian people are the only ones entitled to draw Syria's future and that any solution to the crisis must have the approval of the people and reflect their desires,without foreign interference.
For his part, Brahimi talked about the efforts exerted to hold the Geneva conference to provide the Syrians with the means to meet and agree on solving the crisis as soon as possible and drawing out an initial vision on Syria's future.
