At least 32 Syrian army officers from the coastal city of Tartous have been killed since the beginning of December in the Palmyra and Aleppo battlefields, a source in the military police told Zaman al-Wasl.
Shipments of coffins to Tartous, Assad’s key militant supplier, have been a daily event accompanied with a state of anger despite the regime's attempts to ease tensions by imparting rewards and honorary commemorations.
The city of Tartous has suffered decades of neglect at the expense of its neighboring city of Lattakia, which has a vibrant economic and tourism industry.
