Syrian security forces arrest 12 young journalists at a café in Damascus

Syrian security forces arrested on Tuesday twelve young journalists who were sitting at a café down town the capital city of Damascus.

An eye-witness told the Syrian Observer that there were four female journalists among the twelve arrested.

The source said that this raid proves that the “regime does not differentiate between sects as there are Sunnis, Alawis, Kurds and Ismailis among the group.”

Among the arrested journalists is Shayar Khalil, a peaceful Kurdish activist who is affiliated with Building the Syrian State Current, led by Louay Hussein.

Also among the group is Waad al Jurf, a journalist, who has been arrested before within the course of the Syrian revolution.

A pro-government website, SNN, described the journalists as “activists at al-Jazeera and  the Hebrew Channel,” a name the regime uses to describe al-Arabiya TV.

All4Syria Website reported that the Air Force Intelligence forces arrested the groups.

The website quoted a source as saying that “the regime is carrying out a new campaign of arrests to fill in the vacant place of a couple of dozens who were released currently due to the amnesty issued by Assad.”
