Five people were killed and nine others injured, including civilians and military personnel on Sunday, during a confrontation with suicide bombers attempting to launch an attack on a police and a security buildings in Damascus.
A statement from the Interior Ministry confirmed that three suicide bombers exploded themselves at around 8:45 am as they tried to enter the Rukn Eddine Police Headquarters in Damascus.
"Police confronted the bombers and clashes ensued," said a statement from the ministry issued Sunday.
"The bombers were killed, with their suicide-belts detonating before they were able to enter the building," the statement said.
