Sham Wings Airlines said on Monday it is running two flights each week from Damascus to the Iraqi city of Najaf.
Sham Wings is a Syrian private company licensed since 2008.
"The first flight took off from Damascus on Sunday at 14.30, carrying 77 passengers and arriving at Najaf at 16.00, before returning to Damascus at 19.20, carrying 154 passengers,” Nabil al-Milki, the general relations director of the company told SANA.
He added two flights will be run per week, every Sunday and Friday to transport Iraqi people who desire to visit the holy places in Syria.
