At least five people have been killed from chlorine gas when bombs containing the chemical were dropped on the eastern Syrian town of Sarmin in Idleb province late Monday, local activists reported.
Medics told Zaman al-Wasl that 75 suffocation cases were recorded amid lack of ambulatory materials and oxygen in field hospitals.
President Bashar al-Assad's forces have repeatedly used chemical weapons during the course of the civil war in Syria. The largest known attack used sarin gas, a much deadlier nerve agent, on civilians in the rebel-held area of eastern Ghouta in August 2013, leading to the deaths of 1,429 people.
Under the terms of a deal brokered last year by the US and the Syrian regime's principal ally, Russia, the regime agreed to give up its entire chemical weapons stockpile.
