With three days left until the opening of the 61st Damascus International Fair, preparations for the event are proceeding at a rapid pace as they enter their final stage.
The Director General of the Public Establishment for International Fairs and Exhibitions, Ghassan al-Fakiani, said this year’s edition stands out from its predecessors in terms of the attention given to aesthetic aspects such as lighting, green spaces, and fountains.
Fakiani said that preparations for the Fair are completed, with only a few final touches being put on the preparations for the opening ceremony scheduled for Aug. 28, 2019, while the Fair will open its doors to the public from Aug. 29, to Sept. 6, 2019, from 5 P.M. to 11 P.M.
He said that 11 centers have been set up in Damascus for transporting visitors for free on buses, in addition to train trips from the al-Qadam train station.
Fakiani said 38 countries are participating in the Fair in an official capacity and the total area exceeds 100,000 square meters, the largest in the history of the Fair.
