On Tuesday, the Syrian regime’s Ministry of Health reported 45 new coronavirus cases, without revealing more information about how those infected were doing.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the ministry said 15 people were in recovery.
According to the official announcement, the number of infections in the country has reached 892, including 283 recovering cases, while the death toll hit 46.
Yesterday, the Damascus Medical Syndicate announced the death of three of the capital’s doctors who were dealing with the spread of the coronavirus.
The syndicate said in a statement published on its official Facebook page that Drs. Mahmoud Ghabour, Suhail Jazzara, and Mujib Melhem had passed away as a result of exposure to the virus, following interaction with patients.
The capital Damascus also saw the death of Dr. Mahmoud Omar Sabsoub, a member of the academic staff at the Faculty of Human Medicine at the University of Damascus, an employee at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in Damascus, and Dr. Azmi Farid, one of the members of the Association for Supporting Multiple Sclerosis in Syria, a consultant in diabetes and therapeutic nutrition, as well as Dr. Arwa Bisky, the supervisor in the fixed compensation department at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Damascus, Dr. Ghassan Takleh, in Ibn al-Nafees Hospital in Damascus where he worked, and Dr. Khaldoun al-Serafi, who works with the Red Crescent in Damascus.
