A government source has confirmed that there are no licensed pig farms in Syria and that cases of the H1N1 virus recorded in some regions were caused by humans, not animals.
The source said some farms in the governorates of Damascus, Daraa and Homs were operating illegally and they have been destroyed by the armed opposition.
