On Sunday, Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Mazloum Abdi welcomed the international positions regarding Turkish threats and expressed his hope to apply those positions on the ground.
This came as a reference to the international positions that expressed their rejection of any Turkish military operations that Ankara threatened to launch against northern Syria.
Abdi said in a tweet, “International positions of UN rejecting Turkish operation are welcome.”
Abdi added that he is proud of the international partnership in “stabilizing northeast Syria’s region.”
Since November 20, 2022, the Turkish air force has launched intense airstrikes on all Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES)-held areas on the Syrian-Turkish border in addition to bombarding areas which are more than 40 km away from the border, such as the Global Coalition military base and Hawl Camp in Hassakeh and the village of Makman in the northern countryside of Deir-ez-Zor.
“Hope the positions applied on the ground to end Turkish army attacks and find just political solution for the Syrian crisis and Kurdish issue,” Mazloum Abdi note.
