Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem received UN envoy Staffan de Mistura and his accompanying delegation in Damascus on Saturday evening.
De Mistura met with Muallem to discuss the plan to freeze fighting in Aleppo city, with both sides agreeing to send a delegation from the envoy’s Damascus office to assess the situation in Aleppo.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Faisal Mikdad and Advisor to the Foreign and Expatriates Minister Ahmad Arnous.
