A defected Syrian intelligence officer has revealed a secret prison, supervised by the Republican Guard, located inside Mount Qasioun in Damascus.
The secret prison is dedicated exclusively to the personal opponents of the Assad family.
The officer did not detail the exact location of the prison but said the chief supervisors are all related to the Assad family, suggesting it might be the brother of the president, Maher Assad.
The officer said secret executions were carried out in secret prison cells, and said all prison guards carry weapons with silencers that are often used in execution.
The officer said that the detainees in this prison are not able to be visited and it is impossible to learn of their fate, or how they are tortured because of the secrecy.
He said that torture and prison files are not kept by any intelligence branch in Syria and are exclusively administered by the Republican Guard.
