The Union of Arab Banks launched a workshop at the Damascus Sheraton Hotel on Monday with the aim of training industry workers in international banking laws and regulations.
The four-day workshop will discuss the practical implementation of the Basel II requirements and an introduction to the Basel III accords.
It will also deal with the practical implementation of the accords to manage various types of risks related to banking, particularly related to the minimum capital requirements.
Other issues will also be tackled, including the setting up of management policies and procedures, which will help measure risks, and monitor and control their impacts at all levels.
