1,153 Killed in Kobani Since Battle Begun

The number of people killed in the battle of Kobani has reached 1,153 within two months.

The vast majority of those killed are from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and Kurdish People's Protection Units, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Observatory said 1,153 people have been killed in Kobani area since the dawn of September 16, when ISIS attacked the city, until midnight of Saturday.

Some 27 civilian Kurds have been killed, with some of them executed at the hands of ISIS which "separated their heads from their bodies", and 398 members of the People's Protection Units and Kurdish internal security forces also killed in the battle.

And 712 ISIS fighters have been killed, including 23 who  "blew themselves up in the city and its countryside," according to the Observatory.

The Observatory spoke about continuous violent clashes between the two sides in the southern front of the city. The Protection Units and Iraqi Kurdish Peshmerga forces are shelling ISIS positions while the international alliance aircrafts raid the city.
