Infrastructure Rehabilitation Is Underway in Liberated Areas

Local Administration and Environment Minister Hussein Makhlouf said that the reconstruction committee is implementing a number of projects to rehabilitate infrastructure, especially in the areas that have been liberated from terrorism.

The Minister was speaking during a committee meeting held on Monday to discuss measures taken to facilitate the return of displaced Syrians abroad.

Makhlouf, who heads the Syrian side of the joint Syrian-Russian committee for displaced Syrians, clarified that re-opening the Nasib Border Crossing with Jordan will encourage displaced Syrians to return home.

For his part, Chief of the Russian National Defense Control Center (NDCC) Lt. General Mikhail Mizintsev affirmed in a speech that the available data indicates an organized and voluntary return of displaced Syrians to their country, adding that the UN Commissioner and international humanitarian organizations expressed their readiness to help the displaced, hailing the amnesty within decree no.18 for 2018, which yielded positive effects in this regard.

Representatives from the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Social Affairs and Labor, Justice, and the National Reconciliation Affairs and the Russian Coordinator for Reconciliation reviewed the procedures adopted to receive the returnees and create the appropriate conditions to ensure their return.
