Syria Welcomes Agreement on Idleb Announced in Sochi

Syria has welcomed the agreement surrounding Idleb province that was announced yesterday in the Russian city of Sochi. They stressed that it was an outcome of intensive consultations between themselves and the Russian Federation with complete coordination between the two countries.

On Tuesday, an official source at Foreign and Expatriates Ministry told SANA that the Syrian Arab Republic has always welcomed any initiative that stops bloodshed and contributes to re-establishing security and stability to every inch that was affected by terrorism. They also stressed their determination to go ahead with the war against terrorism until all Syrian land is liberated, whether by military operations or through local reconciliations, which proved their capability to stop the carnage and re-establish stability that contributes to the return of the displaced to their homes.

The source added that the Idleb agreement announced yesterday is a time-bound agreement and it is part of previous agreements on de-escalation zones, which resulted from the Astana process that began in 2017. The agreement essentially stems from the commitment to sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the Syrian territories as well as the liberation of all Syrian territory from terrorism and terrorists or any other illegitimate foreign presence.
