Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Alexander Lukashevich said Russia rejects of the deployment of foreign weapons in the territories of Syria's neighboring countries, saying it risked destabilizing the volatile region.

"We expressed our position on this issue several times; what is happening is that a dangerous region is being injected with foreign arms," he said.

He pointed out that the U.S. State Department spokesperson, Jen Psaki, earlier said that the deployment of American F 16 fighter jets and Patriot missiles to Jordan was for the purpose of joint military drills, and noted that these weapons could now stay in Jordan after the exercises, in the event Jordan requested it.
