The Coalition Has Lost its Legitimacy: Hijab

The National Assembly of Public Sector Employees has rejected what it calls the "the logic of factionalism" which it says dominated an "incorrect and unhealthy environment" at the meetings of the National Syrian Coalition in Istanbul in May.

In a message sent to the Coalition and obtained by Zaman al-Wasl, the assembly, headed by the defected former prime minister Riyad Hijab, said it had been marginalized and excluded by the body.

Meanwhile, the letter said, "efforts go on to appease other forces that are not part of the Coalition and which deal with it on the ground arbitrarily."

The Assembly said the attitude had meant the Coalition had strayed from its purpose at the meetings – to expand in order to encompass the spectrum of the opposition and revolutionary forces, to make it "the widest and most representative of the goals of our people and their glorious revolution."

The Assembly suggested "systematic, collective political work to overcome the logic of factionalism and selfishness which will lead to the loss of the revolution".

It said it considered this as an "historic, collective and personal responsibility," adding that "if we all gave up, we will all become partners in guilt.
