A foreign ministry source said that Syria is following with interest the U.N. Security Council resolution to remove Iraq as a state from its obligations under Chapter VII.
The source said Syria welcomes the decision that puts an end to the long suffering of the Iraqi people and removes another obstacle to restoring Iraq's full sovereignty and important regional role.
"Syria seizes the opportunity to express its full readiness to cooperate with Iraq in all areas and to deepen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the interests of security, stability and prosperity," the source said.
