Maleh, 20 Families Stuck in Cairo Airport

Egypt changed the entry requirements for Syrians suddenly Monday

Zaman al-Wasl has been informed that the Chairman of Legal Committee of the  Syrian National Coalition, Haitham al-Maleh is 'stuck' in Cairo airport and will not be allowed to enter the country until he gets a visa.

In a telephone call, Maleh confirmed to Zaman al-Wasl that Egyptian authorities didn’t allow him to enter Egypt because he doesn’t hold a visa.

Maleh had departed a week ago to Istanbul to attend the meeting of the Coalition's General Secretariat and was surprised when he returned to find he could not enter Egypt.

Maleh said 20 other Syrian families were also stuck in Cairo airport waiting for a visa, and appealed to the Egyptian government to intervene immediately.

Egypt decided suddenly Monday not to allow Syrians in to Egypt unless they hold a visa and security allowance. Previously Syrians were not required to go through this process to enter Egypt.
