Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Monday called for an expansion of the Information Ministry including a new satellite news channel.
Halqi said the Information Ministry could also produce drama and cinema to project the reality of events in Syria and confront what he described as a "cultural invasion".
Chairing a meeting of the Higher Council for Social and Economic Planning to discuss the 2014 budget 2014, Halqi said he appreciated the role of the national media in confronting an unfair media war being waged against Syria.
"In spite of the limited capabilities of the Syrian media, it has been able to face all the fabricated, false mass media through transparency and credibility, to uncover the distorted image they have portrayed on the events in Syria," Halqi said.
