Sources have told Aks al-Ser that the artist Layla Ahmad Awad was arrested on 15 January and referred to the terrorism court.
Awad has been charged with leaving the country illegally, meeting the opposition forces abroad (namely the Muslim Brotherhood) and attacking the regime and the state.
The same judge interrogated the artist Samar Kokash, the daughter of the prominent director Aladdin Kokash and actress Malak Sukkar, who was also arrested.
Awad returned to Syria despite warnings that she risked arrest. Rumors have circulated that the artist Duraid Laham encouraged her, promising to meet her at the border as a guarantee that she will not be arrested.
