A Christian opposition leader said on Thursday that the Armenians in the town of Kassab, north of Latakia in the west of the country, and other areas of Syria do indeed need protection, but not from regime forces.
The member in the Syrian National Coalition, Abdul Ahad Istefo, told Anatolia Agency in a phone interview that Armenians in Kassab need protection from the attacks by the Syrian regime forces which started shelling the town heavily after the opposition forces took control over it two weeks ago.
