Khamenei: Tehran Will Back Syrians’ Decision in Presidential Vote

Khamenei was meeting with Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah in Tehran

Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei stressed that any decision made by the Syrian people in the upcoming presidential election will have the backing of Iran.

During his meeting with Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah in Tehran, Khamenei said some of the countries in the region are held accountable for the massacres and crimes committed by the armed terrorist groups in Syria through the support provided to them by those countries.

He warned that this backing for the terrorists in Syria would "backfire" on those countries and will "cost them dearly", eliminating these groups.

The Kuwaiti Emir, for his part, expressed hope for solving the crisis in Syria by peaceful means and in compliance with the aspirations of its people.

Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council Ali Larijani reiterated his country's call for finding a political solution for crisis in Syria and its support for holding the presidential elections.
