Syrian rebels on Tuesday attacked the al-Nairab military airport north Aleppo, destroying a helicopter, Shahba Press News reported.
The Islamic Front, key rebel group in Aleppo, says it was the second helicopter that has been destroyed in two weeks in al-Nairab airport.
Activists have encouraged rebels to target regime’s helicopters which have been raining down barrels bombs on Aleppo province since last year, causing a mass exodus.
Barrel bombs, which are drums packed with explosives and shrapnel, can level entire buildings with one hit.
