Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem met with UNRWA Commissioner-General for Palestine Refugees in the Near East Pierre Krähenbühl on Monday.
Muallem discussed with Krähenbühl the longstanding cooperation and coordination between the UNRWA and the Syrian government, with the minister stressing that Syria has maintained its support for the Palestinian people, despite the conspiracy that has been targeting it for four years.
Muallem said that the crimes committed by terrorism, with backing from the West and regional and Arab countries, don’t discriminate between Syrians and their Palestinian brethren who live together inside Syria.
Krähenbühl expressed appreciation for the Syrian government’s continuing support for the UNRWA and the Palestinian refugees in Syria, saying that the agency wishes to bolster good relations and mutual trust between it and the Syrian government.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad, Advisor to the Foreign Minister Ahmad Arnous, and head of the International Organizations and Conferences Department at the ministry, Ghassan Obeid.
