A source inside the Foreign Ministry said Syria is concerned about the Obama administration’s decision to legalize US intervention in Venezuela’s affairs.
“The decision, which declared Venezuela an extraordinary threat to the national security of the United Nations, is a grave violation of international law and legitimacy,” said a source at the ministry.
The source added the decision gives only one state the right, outside the purview of the UN Security Council, to interfere in the affairs of another state under weak pretext.
Syria fully rejects the reckless decision, which comes within the context of hostile US policies towards sovereign states that refuse to be dictated to, said the source.
The source warned Washington might use the decision against countries which decline to be pliant tools in the hands of imperialist states.
