Turkey Opens Bab as-Salamah Border Crossing for Eid

Turkish authorities will allow large numbers of Syrian refugees to cross into Syria through the Bab as-Salamah border crossing to spend the festival of Eid with their families, according to Anatolia news agency.

A number of Syrian refugees expressed their happiness with regards to the step. Turkish authorities have not given any information on the return of Syrian refugees who left Turkey for Syria, or on the procedures concerning the border crossing.

The Bab as-Salamah border crossing was closed by Turkish authorities in March, after Ankara issued a decision to permit only health teams and humanitarian aid to cross into Syria.
