Presidential Decree Calls for Amendment to Military Service Law

President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday issued legislative decree No. 38 for 2015, calling for the implementation of Paragraphs 2 and 3 of Article 74 (amended) of the Military Service Law for all state employees enlisted in the reserve military service including those who have joined since March 15, 2011.

The amendment specifies:

A – Permanent or temporary state employees who were summoned to the reserve military service are granted a paid vacation throughout the period of their service.

B – Employees will continue to receive all compensation, including work compensation, which they were entitled to prior to being mobilized.

C – All state, private and joint sector employees, currently undertaking military service have the right to resume to work on the condition they return within 15 days of the end date of their military discharge.
