Syrian Rebels Launch Surprise Attack in Eastern Aleppo

Violent clashes erupted on Monday between regime forces and the Syrian opposition in the Muyasar neighborhood in Aleppo city, with activists confirming Jayish Halab (Army of Aleppo) factions recaptured several neighborhoods from regime forces.

Activists said the factions launched a surprise attack on Karm al-Muyasar, Karam al-Tahan and Al-Qatirji, adding rebels recaptured the eye hospital in Qadi al-Qasr, as well as Karm al-Qatirji and Al-Hawuz Square. Three regime tanks were also destroyed in the Muyasar neighborhood.

The surprise opposition attack came hours after regime forces captured the neihborhoods of Muyasar, Al-Qatirij and Karm al-Tahan. The offensive was preceded by heavy bombing from opposition forces, resulting in the deaths of 25 people and the destruction of military vehicles.

In the Aleppo countryside, the Syrian opposition targeted regime strongholds in Nubul and Al-Zahraa with Grad missiles.
