Chairman of the interim government formed by the Syrian opposition Ahmed Toumeh claimed the U.S. rejected an offer from the Syrian regime to eliminate Al-Qaeda operatives in Syria.
According to Toumeh, the Americans told the Syrian opposition of the offer but said Washington rejected the offer, accusing President Bashar Assad of strengthening jihadists in Syria.
Tohmah denied reports of a U.S.-Russian deal at the expense of the opposition parties, despite the agreement reached in the on the destruction of Syria's chemical arsenal.
Toumeh said Russia asked the opposition for guarantees to preserve its interests in Syria and the region in order to soften its position towards the regime, adding that the Syrian National Coalition will reply.
