Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that the United States has proven it has no desire to separate the so-called moderate opposition from Al-Qaeda-link ed groups, including Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly Nusra Front.
Speaking at a press conference, Lavrov voiced hope that the pause announced by the Russian and Syrian air forces which began almost two weeks ago will be enough to encourage Washington to play its part.
Lavrov claimed that all militants in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo have ties with Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, sometimes through direct participation in terror attacks on areas in south-western Aleppo.
The Russian diplomat also asserted that militants which have remained inside areas held by terror groups will now be considered legitimate targets after failing to evacuate the districts.
