Rehabilitation of Infrastructure and Basic Services Needed in Namer Village

The return of thousands of displaced families to their homes in the villages, towns and cities of Daraa province, which was recently liberated by the Syrian Arab Army, affirms the return of normal life. However there is a growing need to intensify efforts and cooperation between the locals and the legislative bodies concerned in order to start the work and production at all levels.

The locals of Namer village, 22 km east of Daraa who began to return to their houses after six years of forced displacement as a result of terrorist activity stressed the urgent need to rehabilitate and restore what has been damaged by terrorists as soon as possible.

Speaking to SANA, the locals’ demands focused on returning the basic services and re-opening the roads closed by terrorists.

Yamen al-Qaderi, one of the returnees, affirmed the need to form a committee tasked with assessing the damage and facilitating the return of the locals, in line with the return of basic services.

Murad al-Riabi pointed out the great damage caused to the village by terrorism, stressing the need to clean the roads, remove debris, restore electricity and water services, rehabilitate drinking water wells and schools in preparation for the new school year.

Head of the Qarfa town council , Mohammed al-Ghazali said work is under way to assess the damage caused to public and private properties, adding that three schools need partial restoration and a fourth needs full restoration.
