The Second Criminal Court in Damascus has approved the release of President of Building the Syrian State current Louay Hussein on bail. Hussein's trial will continue on charges of "publishing false news to affect the morale of the nation and weaken national sentiment", according to an article published in Al-Hayat newspaper.
Hussein's wife, Neyada Yahya, said on her Facebook page that Hussein had been released. His lawyer, Michelle Shammas, told The Syrian Observer that releasing Hussein does suggest the charges against him will be dropped. Shammas added that Hussein is still not permitted to leave the country.
Hussein was arrested four months ago while trying to leave Syria.
