Lebanese General Security has issued a decision to arrest Syrians travelling from Turkey if their passports are not officially stamped by the Syrian regime, Al-Souria Net has learned.
General Security has already detained a large number of Syrians upon arriving at Beirut-Rafik Hariri International Airport. Al-Souria’s sources added that arrivals are being questioned about their work status, religion, area of residence, the way they crossed the Syrian border, reasons for not using official crossings, and why the passports are not stamped with the official Syrian seal.
According to Syrian activists in Lebanon, the arrests have been carried out by the Lebanese General Security, which interrogates detainees before delivering their files to Hezbollah to decide on the fate of the travelers, either arrest and transfer to Syrian regime forces or deportation to the country of departure.
Activists have noted that arrests are kept confidential, so the Lebanese General Security is not obliged to publicly recognize the detainees.
