According to the Moral Guidance Directorate of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Jordanian border guards received 79 Syrian refugees of differing age groups and sexes within the last 72 hours.
The statement from the directorate said border guards have provided humanitarian aid to the refugees, where they were given food and drink, while military vehicles transported them to safe shelters.
Jordanian medical centers on the border provided first aid emergency and medical services to the Syrian refugees.
According to the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, Jordan plans to launch an appeal to the international community through the Kuwaiti-held third donor conference for the Syrian crisis later this month, in order to mobilize more support.
Fakhoury announced that his country requires nearly $2.9 billion USD during 2015 to cover the needs of Syrian refugees in the Kingdom.
Jordan hosts over 640,000 Syrian refugees, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
