Iranian Foreign Ministry Reveals Upcoming Visit of Raisi to Turkey & Syria

The Iranian Foreign Ministry revealed a close visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Turkey and Syria without specifying a date. It is noteworthy that he received an invitation to visit the two countries.

“Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s trip to Turkey and Syria is under planning and, God willing, will take place as soon as the plans are completed,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Monday, according to Iranian media.

The announcement of Raisi’s visit comes after Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and Russian Sergei Shoigu met with Syrian Defense Minister Ali Abbas at the same table on December 28, amid the announcement of a close meeting between Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and regime Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad.

The newspaper (Asharq Al-Awsat) said last Sunday that Mekdad, and Cavusoglu, will meet in the presence of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow next Wednesday, amid efforts to arrange the participation of UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed in the meeting to become a quartet. The newspaper Al-Watan, which is close to the regime, denied this.
