Fighters with the Al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front and the Ghuraba al-Sham battalions stormed the Danha ammunitions depot in the city of Yabroud, Damascus Countryside Tuesday.
The rebels blew up the same depot after it was raided several days ago by the Liwa al-Islam brigade, with heavy arms and advanced missiles falling under rebel control, the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
Late Tuesday, meanwhile, rebels in the Syrian-Lebanese border city suffered a violent artillery shelling, helicopter and rocket bombardment by regime forces, killing 13 rebels and wounding 45 more, according to the Observatory.
The clashes continued until dawn but there were no reports on the number of regime casualties.
Helicopters also bombarded the Rima area, near Yabroud, with several explosive barrels dropped on the neighborhood. Two civilian casualties were reported, along with dozens of wounded. Helicopters continue to arbitrarily bombard parts of Yabroud city, the activists told the opposition monitoring group.
Damascus witnessed further heavy mortar fire in the Barzeh neighborhood, where the regime has positioned at the Basateen area. There no reports of casualties there, according to the Observatory.
Violent clashes also took place at the entrance to the Yarmouk camp between rebel and regime forces.
