Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Wednesday inaugurated Shuhadaa (Martyrs) Square in central Homs and raised the national flag in the center of the city.
Upon the directives of President Bashar Assad, Halqi inspected the performance of the adminstrative, economic and service sectors in Homs.
He also inspected the work and the production processes at a number of industrial projects and factories at the Industrial City of Hissiya in Homs.
Halqi confirmed that the government will rehabilitate what has been sabotaged by the armed terrorist groups, particularly the electricity, drainage, water, communications and hospitals to provide a suitable environment for the return of families.
Maintenance workers in Old Homs are removing debris, rehabilitating streets, roads, hospitals, schools and providing water and electricity for the return of citizens to their homes.
The city has also provides job opportunities for more than 30,000 people. The Prime Minister also inspected construction of temporary shelters near the industrial city where 800 apartments will become home for more than 4,000 people in addition to schools and health centers.
He confirmed that the rebuilding of Syria is an important development project that also helps to build people's skills and psychology to be able to face all challenges and cultural invasion.
The Prime Minister stressed the constitutional right to hold the presidential election, which will go ahead as the people wished. He said the government is commited to supporting the services and development sectors in Homs province and has allocated 6.5 billion SP for the province.
He hailed the role of Homs residents in consolidating the culture of national reconciliation and expanding this process, noting that Homs will be an example for tolerance and amity.
At a press conference, the Prime Minister said that his visit to Homs is aimed at launching the emergency construction process to include all people for the production process to be launched across all economic, industrial, service and development sectors.
