Death Follows Kobani's Displaced

Turkish border guards opened fire on displaced Kurds in the village of Tal ash-Shair on Friday, resulting in the death of two Kurdish citizens.

The recent mass displacement followed Islamic State advances in the western front of Kobani, as Tal ash-Shair is located five kilometers west of the city.

Refugee numbers increased significantly today, as thousands of Kurds arrived at the Turkish border with their cars and belongings and waited in the "sanctuary" zone,  planted with mines on the Syrian-Turkish border.

Turkish border guards warned the refugees, but due to their fears of IS, they refused to leave; consequently the guards opened fire which led to the death of two refugees and the injury of two others.

Huge numbers of Kurdish refugees arrived in Turkey after the recent IS attack on Kobani and its villages, and the number is expected to reach 400,000 Kurdish refugees.
