President Bashar al-Assad participated in celebrations for the Prophet Mohamad’s birthday on Tuesday at Al-Akram mosque in Damascus, led by Imam Sheikh Adnan al-Afyoni.
Dr. Mohammad Abdel Sattar al-Sayyed, Syria’s minister of religious endowments, said this year’s anniversary of the Prophet Mohammad’s birthday coincides with the birthday of Jesus Christ, both of whom conveyed two messages from God, the first of which was a message of peace and love while the second and last was a message of mercy.
Sayyed added that Syria and its people have friends, like Iran and Russia, that stand on the ‘right’ path. “We say goodbye to a fifth year of a war waged against us and a conspiracy hatched against our religion and country, but we see the victory is shinning, the hope is brimful and the right path is clear at the hands of our heroes,” he said.
